Cat litter
NatureCat is the name of the barley-based cat litter produced by the Consorzio Agrario di Cremona. It’s a unique and innovative product whose processing is fully sustainable: in fact, the energy produced by the biomass obtained from the recycling of raw material processing waste is used and does not involve any consumption of soil, be it in production or in disposal.
The product offers many advantages to its users: using NatureCat does not involve any precautions because it is a non-toxic litter for people and animals, it doesn’t give off odours because it prevents the formation of ammonia and the development of bacteria.
Its composition also makes it completely biodegradable and therefore disposable. In fact, barley contains 58-60% of starch, which in contact with the urine tends to compact and then dissolve immediately in water, allowing it to be eliminated in the toilet.
It doesn’t stick to the cat’s paws because it contains starch. Soft and pleasant to the touch, it doesn’t scratch the floors of your house.
Considering that in Europe there are 60 million domestic cats and 3.5 million tons of non-recyclable mineral cat litter are used with a huge environmental impact, mineral litter, which currently still represents more than 90% of the market, must be disposed of first through incinerators and then in landfills. The spread of vegetable litter will lead to significant savings both economically and environmentally.
